Resources for Parents and Teachers

Anti-Cruelty's Humane Education Department offers a variety of resources for parents, educators, animal welfare professionals, and others interested in spreading the message of care and compassion throughout their communities.

Over the years, our Humane Education Specialists have compiled a small library of considerable depth that includes various books, presentation materials, curriculum plans, worksheets, DVDs, and other assorted media that covers a wide range of topics under the umbrella of Humane Education, including proper pet care, animal-related careers, service animals, dog fighting, the history of animal welfare law, and much more, including a number of multimedia games that are fun for all ages.

All of these resources are readily available for anyone who wants to come by our Education & Training Center (located at 169 W. Grand Ave. in the River North neighborhood of downtown Chicago) to look over them. In most cases, we can make copies of materials that you’re interested in to take with you and use at your own discretion. To make an appointment to come and look through our library during the department’s operating hours (Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.), please contact our Community Programs Manager by phone at 312-645-8098.

Anti-Cruelty has produced a small number of branded informational, educational, and entertaining videos that are readily available on DVD or VHS for anyone interested in obtaining a copy for their own use. In addition to this, we can also make any inquiring party a CD-ROM disk filled with a selection of the very same multimedia games and presentations that our Humane Educations use for the programs that we conduct with local schools groups, summer camps, and other youth-focused organizations.
