Booking

Booking Humane Education Programs
  • Please book your presentation at least three weeks in advance. Bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Programs may be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Requests for evening and weekend programs will be considered on an individual basis and are dependent on the availability of Humane Education Staff.
Presentations at The Anti-Cruelty Society
  • Tours of The Anti-Cruelty Society can only be provided after 12:00 p.m.
  • Field trip programs are generally 1 to 1 ½ hours in length and the group size cannot exceed 80 students and chaperones.
  • Students may be allowed to interact with dogs or cats selected by the Humane Education Department staff. It is the responsibility of the school or community organization to determine if any of the students have allergies to dogs or cats and advise our staff appropriately.
  • We do not have an area where students can eat lunch; please plan to provide lunch before or after the field trip.
  • It is preferable that the students be in a close age range so that we can provide an age-appropriate presentation that will benefit the entire group.
Presentations at your school (or other site)
  • Programs can be conducted in individual classrooms or in an auditorium setting. Our humane educators can each be scheduled for up to five presentations per day. Schools that would like to schedule presentations for a large number of classrooms may need to schedule more than one day.
  • When making a booking for your classroom, please check with other teachers. We may require a booking for a minimum of three classrooms in order to visit your site.
  • For auditorium presentations, it is preferable that the students be in a close age range so that we can provide an age-appropriate presentation that will benefit the entire group.
  • Presentations for pre-school through second grade require 30 minutes. Presentations for 3rd through 8th grade require 40 minutes. Presentations for High School students and for adults can be structured to meet your needs.
  • Schools and organizations requesting programs at their site must be located within the City of Chicago. Requests for visits to locations outside of the city will be considered on an individual basis.
  • We do not bring animals out to schools or other organizations.
