Foster Program

Foster ParentThe Anti-Cruelty Society's foster parent program was designed to help animals which have minor medical problems, are underweight, or are too young to be adopted. Foster eligible animals include dogs and puppies with kennel cough, cats and kittens with upper respiratory infections, and animals with broken bones. The individual love and care a special person gives allows the animals a chance to recover. Taking a foster animal out of the shelter minimizes the chance of other shelter animals catching a possibly contagious illness.

Animals under eight weeks old and/or under two pounds may be fostered until they meet the ACS adoption requirements. Occasionally, the mother may be fostered with her litter if the puppies/kittens are not eating on their own.
