School of Dog Training GraduateThe Anti-Cruelty Society's School Of Dog Training offers low cost, affordable dog training classes for all ages! Take a moment to look over the different classes we offer to determine which class is best for you and your dog. In each of our classes, we will teach you how to establish a positive bond with your dog, one where training is fun. Teaching your dog "good manners" is the most important thing you can do for your new companion. In addition to making everyday life together much easier, it may even save your dog's life one day!

Wee Ones

This four-week class focuses on the essentials of puppyhood: housebreaking, accepting handling, walking on a leash, and general manners. Pups must be 8 to 14 weeks of age the first day of class. The fee is $50. Download Application here. (iconAdobe Reader needed.)

Puppy Pre-School

This is a seven week course for dogs that are 15 weeks up to 6 months old. In this class, we teach basic commands, discuss solutions for common puppy behavior problems, and provide techniques to show your dog that you are a fair, trustworthy, loving leader. There is also a great concentration on socialization. The $100 fee includes a 6-foot leather leash, 15-foot cotton leash, and educational materials. Download Application here. Pet Dog Training 101

For spayed/neutered dogs that are 6 months of age and older, we offer Pet Dog Training 101.This four-week class covers basic commands,offers the opportunity to discuss and solve behavior problems, and will help you and your dog develop a trusting and loving relationship. The cost is $75, or $65 for dogs adopted from a shelter or rescue. The fee includes training equipment and educational materials. Please note: Only one dog per household can be registered for class. Pet Dog Training 102

This four-week class builds on and sharpens basic exercises learned in Puppy Pre-School and Pet Dog Training 101 and introduces new ones. As always, our instructors are ready to offer guidance and help with training problems. The fee is $75 or $65 for shelter- or rescue-adopted dogs. Pet Dog Training 201

For spayed/neutered dogs that are older than 6 months of age, we offer Pet Dog Training 201. This eight-week class is for those who have completed a basic beginners class at any training facility and who would like to take training with their dog to the Intermediate level. SODT GraduateTrick Training

This four-week class will teach you how to get the behaviors you want from your dog (not just tricks!). We will introduce an array of tricks that allow you to have fun with your dog while amazing your friends! No two classes are exactly alike, so take this class often! The class is open to dogs over 10 weeks of age (dogs over 6 months must be spayed/neutered). No prior training experience is necessary. The cost is $50.

Introduction to Rally Obedience

You and your dog will love this great new sport! In Rally Obedience, dogs and handlers follow a course of numbered signs, each indicating a different, fun exercise to be performed. You and your dog will learn to work as a team while improving your dog's skills.

This five-week class is open to spayed/neutered dogs that have completed a beginner training class. The fee is $80 or $70 for PDT101 graduates and shelter adopters.

CGC Prep Course & Test

Get your dog certified as a Canine Good Citizen! Our CGC Prep Course will ready you and your dog for the American Kennel Club title. The AKC CGC test includes a series of evaluations that will test your dog's self-control in everyday settings and his obedience skills. The Prep Course is a three-week class that will cover each evaluation and provide tips to help you and your dog succeed. Prior training is required. The course is open to dogs over 4 months of age (those over 6 months must be spayed/neutered). The cost is $50, which includes a 20-foot leash and the test fee.

If you wish, you may take the CGC test without attending the CGC Prep Course. The CGC Test is open to all dogs that are vaccinated against Rabies. Prior training is not a requirement. The cost is $10.

Canine Charm School

This class is designed to help the pet that is ill-mannered with other dogs. If your dog barks, lunges, spins, or otherwise acts aggressively in the presence of other dogs when on walks, you need Canine Charm School! This is not an obedience class; the goal is to change how your dog feels about other dogs and to give you the skills needed to control and change your dog's behavior. Charm School is limited to four dogs so that you and your dog have the best chance at success. This six-week class is open to spayed/neutered dogs over eight months of age. The cost is $200 ($50 for ACS-adopted dogs). No prior training is required.

Happy Hour

On designated days, the School Of Dog Training offers a chance for your dog to socialize with other dogs- or as we like to call it, playtime! These are one hour sessions monitored by our training instructors. In our Open Happy Hours all dogs must be 6 months or older and attended an obedience class. Small Dog Happy Hour is for dogs 25 pounds and under. Large Dog Happy Hour is for dogs over 35 pounds. Dogs may not exhibit any signs of aggression or fear. All dogs 6 months and older must be spayed/neutered. Each attendance is $10. Additional dogs are $5. Each sixth visit is on us! New Happy Hours are posted on the 15th of the prior month.

  • Small classes that are limited to 10 dogs with experienced instructors who care.
  • After graduating one level, you will receive a discounted price to enter the next one.
  • In addition to the classes being low cost, all graduates are welcome to repeat the same level at no cost for the lifetime of the animal. (Dog must remain in same household) We do require a $50 deposit that will be returned upon completion of the course.
  • All classes are held in our Education & Training Center's training room--another great addition to The Anti-Cruelty Society.
