With age comes wisdom, but in this case, also with age comes beauty!  Coco is a gorgeous 10-year old girl who came to us as a transfer from another shelter.  She is a calm and gentle girlie who has been known to enjoy a tasty treat!  Coco was treated for an upper respiratory infection while at the shelter and although she is healthy and ready to find her new home, she may periodically experience some sneezing and congestion that may require treatment by your own vet. Beep Beep! That is not the sound of a vehicle backing up, it's a pretty kitty! Beep is a beautiful 9-year old girlie who came to the shelter when her owner was moving and could not take her along. Beep is an affectionate, gentle and sweet girl. You may have some trouble finding Beep if you come to meet her. See that lump under the blankets? That's her! She isn't a shy girl - in fact, she likes people very much and loves being pet! - she is just one of those cats who likes to be cozy and covered when she sleeps. Call her name and out she will pop for some attention. Beep does have a history of sores (eosinophilic plaque) in her mouth, probably due to allergies. Prince is a fun, playful 1-year old Chihuahua mix.  He's got plenty of energy and loves to use it by running around exploring, saying hi to people or playing with toys.  He's smart and catches onto things quickly, so basic training and beyond is recommended to make the most of his brain.  He'll need regular exercise but he can entertain himself pretty well with toys (puzzle toys will be a great way to keep him occupied).  His foster mom was rather fond of him and included a wealth of information on how he is in the home (ex. he can be vocal here, especially in his kennel, but he was very quiet at home).  Quite the entertaining little fellow. Flaco is a 1 1/2 year old Chihuahua mix who is an interesting little guy.  He can be a little reserved at first with strangers and can alarm bark at people and dogs walking by, but he can recover with treats and soft verbal encouragement.  New adopters will need to do active work on redirecting his attention and altering his initial response to new people situations.  He's very food motivated so this will be a great help in his training.  Flaco was not interested in toys during his evaluation but this may change once he's settled in a new home.  Basic manners training and regular exercise is also recommended for this young guy. Mopsy is a 6-year old Basset Hound mix who is a bit stressed here at the shelter and will ideally relax and open up more once she's settled in a home.  Like most hounds she is very food and scent motivated, and if there's no food to be had she likes sniffing around, exploring new scents.  She chased after the tennis ball a bit but did not engage in fetch.  She whines a bit when she's stressed but she seeks out comfort and pets from people, sometimes getting a little pushy in the process (jumps up for attention).  Mopsy met a young dog named Spencer and at first said a nice polite hello, but then got animated and barking (sensitive about her hind end?).  Mopsy does have the Basset 'yodel' type bark, so she should probably go to a house or home where the neighbors won't be bothered.  Friendly, sweet gal.  Hurry over and say hello to Mopsy, just ask for #18942943.

Rita - Mother of the Year 2012 (read Rita's story here)-has retired from her job as full time puppy caregiver and wishes a position where she can be the center of someone's attention from here on out.

She is a Rhodesian ridgeback cross, very energetic, and is a fast learner. She needs to live with someone who can give her the right amount of exercise and stimulation to be able to live up to her great potential. She has been known to like some dogs very much, but has shied away from others, and should meet any new dog companions first to test the waters.

The transition from 24/7 mom to just a dog will have its challenges. We have seen what a wonderful dog Rita is and have become quite attached to her ourselves, but we want her to have a great home of her own. So we will offer all of our many resources to help make the transition as easy as possible.

Rocky is a sweet, affectionate 5-year old Lab mix. He is somewhat stressed and frustrated here at the shelter. He will benefit from ongoing confidence building and stimulating independent activities to help avoid possible over-reliance on the companionship of people. During his evaluation, he was most interested in human contact, and though he took treats, he didn't show any desire to engage with food or chew items (this may be due to stress, so his interests could change as he is able to settle into a home environment). Garo is a fun 1-year old Pomeranian/Pug mix who came to the shelter under the saddest of circumstances -- his owner passed away and left him all alone. He's a cute little guy who can sometimes be  a bit loud in his kennel, but once he's out, he is very good- natured; fairly social and easy to handle. He seems to enjoy being scratched all over and stuck around for more. He is generally polite with other dogs, but he did react towards another dog that was excessively rude to him. A spritely young dog, Garo may have the makings of an agility dog as he is fast-moving and curious. Rocky is a sweet 3-year old, currently weighing 13 lbs., who has a great-looking wiry coat typical of many terriers. His initial nervousness when arriving at the shelter has much improved as he continues to socialize with the staff and volunteers. GRETCHEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

We just all love Gretchen!  This cute little girl so so very endearing, she will steal a piece of your heart the moment you meet.  Gretchen came to us as a transfer from another shelter and we are hoping to find someone who will dote on her and spoil her!  Gretchen stars in her very own video, click HERE to see it!  Gretchen has recently been quite reserved, but it should be noted that she had oral surgery in addition to her spay and umbilical hernia repair, which may be the cause of her being shut down.  Her vet reported that she was quite social and wiggly before that.  Very shut down, Gretchen did not move during introductions, noticed dogs but did not actively engage with them.  Grettchen weighs in at a mere 13.6 lbs. and would be a great dog for a condo or apartment dweller.  She's really very cute and once settled into her new home, will be a wonderful companion and friend.  Please come and meet Gretchen (#14134939), she's ready to go home with you today!

ARMAND AND MALYKAI HAVE BEEN ADOPTED!

Please come meet Armand and Malykai!  These handsome boys came to the shelter when their owner could no longer care for them.  Both boys are gentle-mannered and perfect gentleman.  Friendly and sweet, Armand and Malykai are people-loving and lovable.  Understandably a little scared here at the shelter, these boys would love to be back in a home again where they can spend their time just hanging out with you!  Armand is a large-sized fellow (weighing in at about 26 lbs.) and will need your help and that of your own vet in losing weight safely so he can stay healthy and happy.  Regular brushing will also be needed for both boys, as Maykai has a full furry coat and when Armand arrived at the shelter, his gorgeous fur was matted and he was shaved to make him more comfortable.  Very loving, both Armand and Malykai will be wonderful companions and friends for some lucky adopter.  Won't you come and meet them?  Armand (#09908245) and Malykai (#13934587) are patiently waiting for you at The Anti-Cruelty Society.  Don't keep them waiting, they are ready to go home with you today!

Red is a cute little girl came to the shelter when her owner had too many pets and couldn't keep her. Red is a sweet little girl who is understandably somewhat stressed here at the shelter, yet still tolerates handling.  Gradual, gentle socialization is recommended, as well as basic training to help her feel more comfortable in all types of situations.  By going slow and giving her some time, Red will show you what a lovable girl she is.  In fact, given a little time, don't be surprised if you find Red ever so slowly climbing into your lap! These great guys came to the shelter when their owner's landlord wouldn't allow pets. Pasha and Masi are gorgeous guys, having coats of silky gray and the most amazing green eyes. They are total social butterflies who love people and want nothing more in life than to love and be loved! Pasha and Masi spent a little time in our Rehab Center recovering from upper respiratory infections and, while there, they stole the hearts of staff and volunteers alike -- they are very easy to love. Pasha and Masi are gentle and cuddly guys who will truly make any house a home. Healthy and ready to find their forever home, these two boys would be ever so grateful if you stopped by to meet them. Teardrop is an ADORABLE 4-year old Chihuahua mix who came to the shelter when her former family was having a baby and with all the time they would need for baby, they did feel they had time for Teardrop. Well, we are thrilled to have gotten to know this little girl. Now she only recently arrived in the adoption room and is a bit shy, but just give her a little time and she warms up and shows you what a little sweetheart she is. SHEBA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

To meet Sheba is not only to love her -- but to ADORE her! This beautiful girl is very endearing, gentle and laid-back. Sheba is a 7-year old Rottweiler mix who came to the shelter when her owner was moving and couldn't take her along. Sheba is a sweet and mellow girl who seeks attention and leans her head on everyone and anyone near her. Sheba knows some basic commands such as "sit", is easy on the leash and takes treats gently. She is a quiet and calm lady who has a low activity level and just wants to spend her life loving you. Sheba is a bit full-figured, weighing in at 97 lbs., and helping Sheba slim down once in her new home will keep her healthy and happy. Sheba would be a great addition to the family, however, Sheba probably would be happiest as your only pet -- but then with Sheba around, why would you need anyone else! A home without children is preferred due to Sheba's size and strength -- yet, Sheba would do GREAT in an all-adult home.
