Our Bully Buddies

This adoption program is designed to find some very special dogs new homes. Dogs featured on this page will not be found among our general adoption population and can be seen by appointment only.

We are excited that you are showing an interest in one of our Bully Buddies and that you would like to schedule a visit with one.  But to do that we need to receive a completed Adoption Application.

You can download an adoption application (Adobe Reader required).  Please complete the form answering all questions thoroughly and send it by fax to (312) 644-3878 Attn: Tamra.  Or send it by mail to: The Anti-Cruelty Society, 157 W. Grand Ave., Chicago IL 60654  Attn: Tamra.  You can also contact Tamra via e-mail.

Remember to include at the top of the application the name of the dog(s) that you are most interested in seeing.

Please note that we evaluate animals on a regular basis and new dogs are added when available.  Please check back regularly to see new additions to this program.

We will contact you within 3 days of receiving your application.

Pit Bull Terriers are wonderful dogs.  However, they are not the pet for all households.  We encourage you to do extensive research on the breed and what will be required of you to be a responsible owner of a Pit Bull Terrier.  An excellent online resource would be www.badrap.org to get you started in your research.

Visit our Adoption Page for general information and adoption requirements. Each Bully Buddy adoption comes with additional benefits! See the Pit Package page for more information!

The Anti-Cruelty Society reserves the right to accept/deny applications based on the particular needs of the animal.

Rufus #9971443

Meet Rufus, an absolutely adorable five month old Pit Bull/Boxer mix puppy who is looking for a loving home. Rufus came to us when his previous owners found they had no time to take care of a pup, and with his soulful eyes and endearing nature he has quickly won over the hearts of the staff and volunteers. All gangly limbs and puppyish enthusiasm, Rufus is a true gem of a dog who can bring a smile to the grumpiest of faces. He already knows ‘sit' but is eager to learn more and prove what a good student he can be. Rufus also plays very nicely with other dogs and seems to have good judgment of which dogs he can get goofy with when playing, and which ones he needs to be more calm. He is very affectionate and gentle and could do well in a home with slightly older children and a family who are up for raising an energetic puppy. Call today to make an appointment to meet Rufus.

Penelope #9969322

Meet Penelope, a playful and friendly nine month old Pit/Bull terrier mix! Nellie (for short) is super sweet and a blast to hang out with, especially when there are toys involved. When she runs after a toy or ball and pounces on it, she'll use her momentum to slide halfway across the floor just for fun! She already knows ‘sit' and ‘down' and she's eager to learn more. Like most adolescent dogs, Nellie likes to jump up on people and she can become a bit mouthy when she's really excited, but she'll stop with a mild verbal correction and she'll sit very nicely when asked. Though initially somewhat shy with new people and situations, she recovers beautifully with a happy, pleased-to-meet-you kind of attitude in almost no time at all. She should fit beautifully in a variety of homes, but any children should be slightly older due to her jumpiness. Call today to make an appointment to meet Penelope and see if she's the buddy for you!

Ernie #691115

Come and meet Ernie! This handsome boy is only seven months old, so he still has a bit of growing to do, both in body and in mind. Ernie can become somewhat jumpy when he’s really excited, so he would do best in a home with older children while he works on keeping his paws on the ground.  Considering he is still a young, energetic adolescent, however, Ernie can be quite the gentleman.  He loves a good game of fetch and will happily play the game as long as you can throw a ball. He already knows ‘sit’ and seems ready and willing to learn more commands. If you are looking for a goofy and lively young dog to be both an exercise companion and a snuggle buddy, then Ernie may be the Bully Buddy for you! Call today and make an appointment to meet Ernie.
