Wicked Cast Celebrates New Cat Clinic

”WICKED” CAST MEMBERS CELEBRATE ”FURRY TAIL” OPENING OF NEW CAT CLINIC AT THE ANTI-CRUELTY SOCIETY

Former Chicagoan, Virginia Butts Berger, Grants Birthday Wish for Clinic, Enabling Shelter to Rescue 800 Additional Cats a Year

A “Wicked”-ly fabulous opening of The Virginia Butts Berger Cat Clinic, the new purr-fect facility housed within The Anti-Cruelty Society’s open door humane society, was the best possible birthday gift for the 109 year old shelter. Private donor and former Chicagoan, Virginia Butts Berger (deceased), represented at the party by family and friends -- funded this project to provide rehabilitation and treatment to an additional 800 cats and kittens each year. For good, cast members of Chicago’s hit musical Wicked helped open the doors to the 750-square-foot clinic on Friday, March 7, 2008.

The Anti-Cruelty Society (ACS) is one of the largest open-door humane societies in the country, serving over 25,000 animals each year. Last year, The ACS adopted over 5,700 animals (3,217 cats/2,483 dogs) and spayed/neutered over 13,000 cats and dogs. The Society’s mission extends beyond animal sheltering, rehabilitation and treatment, cruelty investigation, care and rescue, into the areas of human education, behavior counseling and training. Since its founding in 1899, The Society has proved an open door for animals in need.
