Home Buddies
Welcome to our adoption page highlighting some very special cats looking for a family! Cats featured on this page have spent a long time in the shelter recovering from their Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) and are currently in foster homes finishing their recovery, so therefore will not be found among our general adoption population in the shelter. To find out more information about these cats and to possibly meet some of them, please email or call Darlene Duggan (dduggan@anticruelty.org; 312-644-8338 ext 313).
Because these cats have had URI for an extended period of time, they may be considered a chronic case, and will therefore always shed the virus and potentially may show symptoms throughout their life. However, we still think they make great companions, and hope you will agree! Please contact us to find out more information about adopting a Special Care Cat.
Cody #679426:
Cody is 4 ½ years old and came into the Anti-Cruelty society in the winter of 2008. He had an upper respiratory illness, but since being in the foster home his symptoms have disappeared. He also recently underwent an operation for an injured foot and is recovering wonderfully. Cody gets along with all cats and overall is a very gentle, loving guy. All of the volunteers fell in love with Cody's warm personality and we're sure that you will too!
Georgio (#578099)
Are you looking for the kitty equivalent of Curious George? This jet-black, panther-look-alike is sweet, silly and inventive. Need a buddy to hang out while you brush your teeth in the morning? Georgio may just swipe the brush and join you! He has scarring in both eyes from his Upper Respiratory Infection, but other than the occasional sneeze and minor skin infection, Georgio is as happy and active as ever. He came into the shelter at a very young age along with his brother, who has since recovered fully. Georgio loves being with people and is very excited to find his forever home!

Maverick (#681867)
Are you looking for an energetic, loving, fun little boy to take home? Maverick would be perfect for you! He is a little over a year old and has been in a foster home since October 2008. His foster mommy loves him very much but is hoping that he can find a forever home soon. In his foster home, Maverick loves getting into mischief with his fellow feline buddy, Baba Ganoush. The two of them love to play with dog treats and food (the size is just perfect for toys!), sleep on their foster mommy’s pillow, watch TV, assist with chores (especially washing dishes), and play with other cats. Maverick is also bilingual, as he knows both English and Polish. Maverick gets along wonderfully with other animals and would make a perfect addition to your family.
