Chicago, IL (August 3, 2009) -- The Anti-Cruelty Society is on a mission to find homes for over 500 cats through the Share the Love Cat Campaign (CATpaign). The Society launched the CATpaign on August 1 and anticipates reaching their adoption goal by Sept. 30, 2009.

“The Anti-Cruelty Society usually houses 75 percent more cats than dogs and we care so much about the animals. We want to see them go to good homes,” said Dr. Robyn Barbiers, President of The Anti-Cruelty Society. “Cats are a lifetime commitment and people need to understand this. Because the current economy, along with kitten season, we have experienced an increase in homeless cats and kittens.”

Over the next few months the adoption fee for one cat will be waived if the adopter decides to adopt two. This CATpaign is not limited to same family cat adoptions; two friends can each adopt a cat then split one adoption fee. All standard adoption requirements apply.

The Anti-Cruelty Society cat adoption fees are $60 per cat or kitten. This adoption fee includes a complete veterinary exam, all vaccinations, spay or neuter, a lifetime ID tag and permanent identification microchip, a collar, a cat carrier and 15 days free post-adoption veterinary care in our clinic.

Cats make great companions. They are fun, affectionate and they don’t need to go for walks,” Nadine Walmsley, Vice President of Public Relations, said. “To show how much we care for the wonderful felines, we are celebrating them by asking you to share the love by adopting two. “
