2009 Annual Award Winners
THE ANTI-CRUELTY SOCIETY ANNOUNCES ANNUAL AWARD WINNERS
The Anti-Cruelty Society, Chicago’s 110 year old comprehensive, open-door, humane society, has announced the individuals who will be honored at the awards ceremony to be held in conjunction with the Society’s annual meeting on Monday, December 7th.
Bernie Berlin, owner and founder of A Place to Bark has been named Humanitarian of the Year. According to The Society’s President, Dr. Robyn Barbiers, “We are so grateful for Ms. Berlin’s work on behalf of the animals. She works tirelessly, using her own resources to save the lives of so many animals.”
Eddie Webb and Jill Egan, of WLUP radio have been named Media Persons of the Year. Eddie and Jill provide us with the weekly opportunity to highlight adoptable animals.
Jacquelyn Delaney of Sherwood Elementary School has been named Teacher of the Year for her commitment to teaching her students compassion and respect for animals.
The Society’s Rose Fay Thomas Recognition Awards will be presented to Suzy Thomas of Realtors to the Rescue in recognition of her dedication and love of animals and support of The Society’s work. And to the Sebastian Family for opening their hearts and home to help provide foster care for over 117 animals, helping us save more lives.
“Individuals such as those we are honoring through our 2009 awards make a real difference in the quality of life for the people and pets in our community,” Dr. Barbiers said. “We can’t thank them enough for what they do.”
