Veterinary Assistant (Clinic)


The Anti-Cruelty Society is accepting applications for a full-time Veterinary Assistant. This position reports to the Director of Clinic Services with responsibilities to include:
 
  • Performing inductions, tracheal intubation and monitoring anesthesia.
  • Clipping and scrubbing animals prior to surgery and assisting in surgery.
  • Monitoring recovery, sterilizing surgical packs, maintaining surgical logs and maintaining surgical/prep/clinic areas.
  • Restraining animals, administering oral and injectable drugs, performing intravenous catheterization and fluid therapy.
  • Recording observations and treatments on patient charts.  
  • Maintaining kennel area and cages.
  • Performing radiography, fecal, heartworm, feline leukemia and parvo virus testing, skin scrapes and cephalectomy.
  • Filling prescriptions, discharging patients and giving client instructions.
  • Maintaining equipment such as anesthesia machines, autoclaves, dental equipment, microscopes, x-ray machine, clippers and other instruments.
  • Performing other functions as assigned by Clinic Director.   


The ideal candidate should have one year of previous experience and must respect animals. The successful candidate must also believe in The Anti-Cruelty Society‘s mission and philosophy.
